FUNCTION PRINCIPLE
The Ro-Tap Sieve Shaker operates on a dual-motion mechanical principle combining rotation (Ro) and vertical tapping (Tap) to separate particles by size.
Key Components & Workflow
- Motor-Driven Agitation Mechanism
- A heavy-duty motor generates a rotational motion (at ~290 RPM) to horizontally oscillate the sieve stack.
- Simultaneously, an internal cam mechanism delivers vertical taps (at ~150 taps per minute) to dislodge trapped particles.
- Sieve Stack Assembly
- Test samples are placed on a stack of nested sieves arranged in descending mesh size (coarsest at the top, finest at the bottom).
- A pan at the base collects particles smaller than the finest sieve’s mesh.
- Particle Separation Process
- Rotation distributes the sample evenly across the sieve surface.
- Tapping vertically jolts the sieves, preventing particle blockage (blinding) and ensuring efficient passage through mesh openings.
- Timed Operation
- A built-in timer (typically 1–60 minutes) automates the process, standardizing test durations for consistency.
- After the cycle, retained material on each sieve is weighed to calculate particle size distribution.
